There will be some focus on French and Italian industrial production after the Germanfigure’s weakness in August. However, the drop in German production should havebeen affected by the summer holiday and the weakness is not expected to be broadbasedacross the euro area. We expect a small decline in the French figure and anincrease in the Italian one.
Today three Federal Reserve top officials – Plosser, Lacker and George – speak. Allthree are normally considered to be hawks. Given the recent strengthening of theUSD, investors will be listening intently.
