A quiet morning for the euro so far today in the Asia-Pacific session, as it opened at $1.2917 following a $1.2883 to $1.2952 range during the US session overnight. Euro-dollar saw mild gain in early dealings, taking the rate up to $1.2925 before it ran out steam. A minor pullback to $1.2916 was then followed by another move back up to the early high but the pair then gave up after that and turned down for the rest of the morning. Comments from US President Barack Obama about taking on ISIL in the Middle East caused some jitters but had little direct market impact. Euro-dollar then slipped to around $1.2913 just as the China and Australia data were released and briefly pausedthere before resuming the fall to a $1.2907 low. Euro-dollar was last at $1.2914.
