Hungarian CPI fell by 0.1 % y/y in May
Hungarian inflation remains in the negative territory. Like in the previous month, consumer prices dropped by 0.1 % y/y. As expected, the 6.5% natural gas price reduction immediately and perceptibly influenced the price index. In annual terms, prices of electricity, gas and other fuels dropped by 12.5 %. Compared to the same period last year, consumers paid 16.9 % less for natural gas, 11.4 % less for heat and 11.1 % less for electricity. Also food, 0.8 % cheaper in annual terms, contributed to the price decrease.
