On a very quiet day on the data front, markets will continue to digest the news overthe week with a surprisingly hawkish Fed and new sanctions on the way againstRussia from the US and Europe.
Tonight a range of Fed speeches will be interesting following the Fed meeting thisweek. Bullard will speak at 16:45 while Kocherlakota and Stein will speak latertonight. Kocherlakota should be particularly interesting as he dissented to part of theFed statement which related to the new forward guidance as he thought it hurt theFed’s credibility.
In terms of economic figures there are no real exciting key figures. The only numberof interest will be preliminary consumer confidence for the euro area. Consensuslooks for a small rise. Recent regional surveys have been mixed. Belgium yesterdayreported a sharp fall in consumer confidence while consumer confidence in theNetherlands rose further.
