Violence in Ukraine weighed on regional sentiment
Hungarian forint led fall of CEE currencies
All three regional currencies weakened yesterday. The forint was hurt by a larger than expected rate cut that, combined with a new outburst of violence in Ukraine made the forint lose more than 1 % and dip to its 2-year low of 314.40 EUR/HUF.
Contagion spread out quickly to Poland, where the Polish zloty lost 0.5 %, ignoring better than expected fresh data from industry. Thus the Czech koruna, having lost only 0.2 %, became the best performing regional currency.
