While Wednesday’s labour market data are the most important data this week, the news around Fonterra’s Saturday announcement has generated much comment. Fonterra advised eight of its customers it had a quality issue involving three batches of ONE type of whey protein concentrate in ONE manufacturing plant. Some have recalled products. The physical production of the contaminated whey product was more than a year ago. There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the consumption of the affected whey protein.
