The pair seen a session of only marginal losses this morning in Asia, with dollar-yen keeping to the overnight ranges through today’s session. Dollar-yen opened at Y106.86 and edged up slightly in early dealings to a high of Y106.88, just about matching last night’s Y106.89 US session high. The pair hovered near that high in the early few hours, stuck in a Y106.79/88 range before turning south despite Japanese stocks opening higher. Dollar-yen slipped to Y106.70 and rebounded slightly to Y106.81 again. From there, it retreated again to a session low of Y106.64 and then recovered again to the Y106.80 region a few minutes after the release of Australian and Chinese data. Dollar-yen was last at Y106.74 with a further rise through Y107.00 to see the pair at its highest since Sept 22, 2008. Barriers are noted there at Y107.00 and at Y107.50, with stops also seen on any moves above.
