AUD/USD Analysis

With no major Australian data today, aussie spent the early hours of the session taking its lead from regional stocks. The aussie opened at $0.8982 and was initially held in a $0.8962 to $0.8982 range. It was then capped at $0.8988 as Japanese stocks opened lower and aussie-dollar then slipped to $0.8958 about an hour after that. The release of Chinese property prices data and sharply lower Chinese commodity prices added pressure on the aussie, which dipped further to a $0.8938 low around mid-morning. Aussie-dollar however regained some lost ground toward the end of the Asian morning as it trudged back up toward $0.8980. The pair was last at $0.8968, compared with Friday’s US close of $0.8977. Below the morning lows, more bids are seen toward $0.8900, while techs note the 21-day and 55-day moving averages are also in place below at $0.8921 and $0.8913, respectively
