AUD/USD Analysis

The pair opened at $0.8629 this morning after a $0.8591 to $0.8641 range during the US hours last night. It got up to a $0.8632 early high was was then pressured lower as the US dollar marked its early gains vs the yen. Soon after a speech by Alexandra Heath, the RBA’s head of economic analysis dept, aussie-dollar was holding near $0.8629 and began to inch forward again as the dollar-yen started to pull back. Aussie-dollar broke through the morning highs and traded up through rumored offers at $0.8650 for a high of $0.8653. It ran out of steam ahead of rumored stops above $0.8660 and turned back again as the market consolidated the moves ahead of the weekend. Aussie-dollar last trades at $0.8633. While $0.8682 caps immediate focus remains on 2014 lows of $0.8541 with overall focus having returned to the $0.8317 July 2014 monthly low.
