Business conditions rose by 12 points to +13 in October, the largest monthly increase in the history of the survey. Conditions are now at their highest level since February 2008. Profitability was up by 14 points, trading conditions by 13 points and employment by 7 points. Unlike the (short-lived) jump in July, the October rise was relatively broad based with the biggest improvements in financial & property services, mining and retail. All states expect Victoria posted an improvement, with the largest gain in NSW.
