The pair opened at Y108.36 this morning, slightly higher than its Friday close of Y108.12 in New York, while euro-yen started at Y137.12, also up slightly from Friday’s close of Y137.04. Dollar-yen turned south from the start of the day, while euro-yen managed to chalk up some minor gains to Y137.47 before turning lower. Dollar-yen traded to Y108.07 a few minutes after Japanese stocks opened and paused there as it retraced a few points back up to Y108.15. Euro-yen continued to slide however, and soon traded a low of Y136.96 before stabilizing. Dollar-yen resumed its losses after that, slipping to Y107.92 and then to a Y107.86 Asian low, as euro-yen also continued to trade just off its worst levels for the session so far. Dollar-yen was last at Y107.95 while the cross was at Y137.17.
