The pair ended the NY trading hours at $0.8771 after having traded a $0.8652 to $0.8787 range on the day. It ran into early weakness as the dollar gained with remarks by RBA assistant governor Guy Debelle also adding to the sentiment. Aussie-dollar breached the $0.8652/50 support area and then went down to a $0.8736 low a few minutes after the NAB’s Sept business survey readings. Aussie-dollar began to recover after that on reported demand coming in at $0.8725/20 down to $0.8700. Dealers also noted the recovery came as aussie-yen also rebounded in line with other yen crosses, helping aussie-dollar back up to $0.8788. As regional stock markets pared back their earlier losses, aussie-dollar continued to rebound, pushing through $0.8800 in the late morning and eventually hitting a high of $0.8812. The aussie was last at $0.8798.
