USD/JPY Analysis

A holiday in Japan today made for a quiet session in yen pairs. Dollar-yen opened at Y101.37 while euro-yen started at Y137.09 this morning. Early dealings saw dollar-yen trapped in a Y101.34 to Y101.40 range initially. It was at Y101.34 as the rest of Asia got underway and then began to head lower in very thin markets and as euro-yen also began to move southwards. Dollar-yen found minor support at Y101.27 while the cross also paused at Y137.06. Losses continued after that with dollar-yen then sliding to a Y101.27 low as euro-yen headed to a low of Y137.03. Dollar-yen last at Y101.28 with offers noted still in place in the Y101.80 to Y102.00 region, while bids are also still seen surrounding the Y101.00 barrier. Euro-yen meanwhile was last at Y137.04.
