Carney Departure Does Not Change Capped Outlook for CAD

Governor Carney departure next year does not alter near-term outlook for BoC policy: It was announced on Monday that Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney will be replacing Bank of England Governor Mervyn King when King’s term ends next year (somewhat surprisingly given earlier denials). For several reasons we do not expect Governor Carney’s departure to have any sustained impact on CAD in coming months – not the least being that he plans to remain as head of the BoC until 1 June 2013.
