Dollar-yen extended its recovery off Friday’s intraday lows of Y83.86 to Y83.28 into the NY session close with move extending into early Asia through to a high of Y84.50.

GBP/USD Analysis

Closed in NY Friday at $1.6171 after recovering off a corrective pullback low of $1.6152. Rate tracked euro-dollar moves through Asia with traders reporting very light cable trading going through the systems.

EUR/USD Analysis

Closed in NY Friday at $1.3188 after recovering off a pullback low of $1.3159. Early Asia sold back into this recovery,

Asian Currencies Technicals

AUD/JPY: Focus Firmly On $1.0290-00 Region. Thursdays close on the 21-DMA was followed up with a sharp fall to end the week that closed marginally above the 21 day lower Bollinger band.

Mid-Day FX Market Analysis

Positive risk outlook recovered off its post Fiscal Cliff Plan B vote pull, with euro-dollar holding most of the European morning above $1.3200, and well off overnight lows of $1.3180.

USD/JPY Analysis

Euro-yen was pressed lower through Asian trade Friday as rate reacted to the risk aversion caused by the announcement that the Fiscal Cliff Plan B vote had been pulled due to lack of support.

Daily Market Technicals

EUR/USD: Fails To Break Dec 19 High, Bears Eye $1.3156. The pair now declines after bulls tried to break the high of Dec 19, the potential gravestone doji, however bears prevailed.

GBP/USD Analysis

Closed in NY Thursday at $1.6277 after rate had pulled back from a recovery high of $1.6294 and edging back from a pullback low of $1.6254.

EUR/USD Analysis

Closed in NY Thursday at $1.3247 after rate had managed to recover off pullback lows of $1.3215 having seen highs earlier in the session of $1.3295.

Asian Currencies Technicals

AUD/USD: Continuation Lower Now Favoured. The pair dipped below the 21-DMA yesterday for the first time since late Nov and we will now look for a close below the Dec 11 low as confirmation of a break of the 21-DMA and the resulting shift lower in focus.

Mid-Day FX Market Analysis

EUR – Opened early Europe at $1.3211, Euro-dollar closed in NY Wednesday at $1.3228 as rate extended its corrective pullback from intraday highs at $1.3309.
