Business confidence lifted slightly in April to +6 from +4, returning to long-run average levels after hitting a post-election low last month. The rise in confidence was a little surprising given negative rhetoric about a tough Federal Budget. Business conditions dipped slightly in the month to zero from +1, essentially flat for the past three months, continuing to point to a sluggish recovery in business activity.
