AUDUSD unharmed by Gillard’s departure
The AUDUSD was unharmed by news of Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s departure after a Labour Party vote saw Kevin Rudd win 57-45 to take over leadership of the Labour party. Rudd now faces a general election on 14 September. With the Labour party trailing more than 10 points behind the opposition coalition Liberal-National party in polls, a potential change in leadership has not affected the AUD unduly so far.
