Consumer sentiment buoyed by low interest rates

• Consumer sentiment rose by 4.7% in June to be 6.9% higher than a year ago.
• The bounce in sentiment took the index back above 100 (a level above 100 indicates that the number of optimists outweighs the number of pessimists).
• The mood amongst consumers appears to be buoyed by record low interest rates. But there remain lingering concerns over the economic outlook.
